Joyful Joy

image

Sunshine in leaves

There’s something about the joy in a smile
That brings a few tears to my eyes.
It’s a little silly, I’m not quite sure why,
But my heart overflows with delight!

A smile, a laugh, in the midst of sorrow,
Is a magnificent, wonderful show!
A dazzling light amongst the shadows;
In the dark, blissfulness glows!

A beautiful contrast, ageless and fair,
That warms us all to the core.
The jovial voice after years of despair:
This joy is from my Dear Lord!

Love from a friend, in its due season,
Brings joy to the deepest of grievance.
Every smile, a graceful achievement;
The beauty of God’s benevolence.

Flip-Flop Day

I dream of this day that’s done,
The start and the end.
From morning to evening,
From dusk until dawn.

Clouds filled the sky up high,
Wind caused a chill.
But in my beating heart,
Love warmed me still.

The fires burn so bright,
From day until night.
Where is the guiding light,
In this fight for life?

Smoke fills the sky,
Time travels by,
And though I’m just passing by,
I still feel the sigh.

Rain falls this morning,
Flames start to die.
But my heart is beating
Deep down inside.

Afternoon, then evening,
Clouds start to part;
Sunshine starts falling,
The rain has all stopped.

The heat beats us down;
Sweat pours down my brow.
But in this scorching town,
My love still stays sound.

Through the ups and downs,
Around bends, through doors;
The constant that keeps me strong:
My Savior, Christ the Lord.

He is my strength,
Never giving in.
Darling, I’ll go the length,
Just know I trust in Him.

How Far From Home?

image

We set out from home with comrades in tow.
The sunlight shone on every trampled stone.

image

Our hearts were free from the monotony,
Of daily life’s grief, work, and disease.

image

Every challenge seen, we accepted with glee.
Like trails of bunnies, our paths careened.

image

In the wide, open range we rested from fame.
No gold or silver claim, not even a name.

image

This edge of disaster, we came to master;
We kept going faster as we burst with laughter.

image
Our path took us over many a river and boulder;
A single, daily adventure, in the moment, lasts forever.

image
Looking back, where we were just moments ago;
The awe and wonder of God’s creation below.

image
Onward and upward, and further and inward,
Higher and colder, as we travel to Asgard.

image
Every step, every ledge, we struggle against.
Some laugh, some help, as we hang off the edge.

image
Overcoming the obstacles, we rest on the mountain;
No matter the improbable, we drink from Dragon Fountain.

image
Over the troll bridges, we head back to home.
Avoiding the disadvantages of becoming meat and bone.

image
To home we returned, for there’s no better place;
A place, I’ve learned, where love and peace stay.

Grass of Autumn

A gentle frost melts in the sunlight.

A gentle frost melts in the sunlight.

I awoke in a sweat,
Though bitterly cold;
Darkness, like death,
Had swallowed me whole.

Encased in my tears,
I felt unkown fear;
Endless was the night,
‘Til morning did appear.

The sun shown bright,
On the horror, frost;
I turned to the light,
And all my fears, I lost.

My eyes did dare open,
To see my surroundings;
Brothers who were broken,
I found overwhelming!

Some still sprawled flat,
In fear they did stay;
I helped my friends up,
To see the light of day.

Together, my brothers,
My sisters, and I;
We stand with each other,
‘Til the day that we die.

We are faithful, a unit,
A bond that won’t break;
For our own, faithful Son,
Shines down every day.

The strength, the warmth,
The comfort He brings,
Won’t, from us, be torn.
His praise do we sing!

Winter draws nearer,
Under weight we will lay;
But we will not fear,
Having faith every day.

Ah! Blade of grass,
How great is your lesson!
Your roots are steadfast,
Your faith need not mention!

May my life mirror yours,
In trust and great hope.
May those truths be reinforced,
And my life, help others float.

Raining Sunshine

Sometimes, sadness and happiness come at the same time, like when it's sunny and raining!

Sometimes, sadness and happiness come at the same time, like when it’s sunny and raining!

Drops fall down, down from above;
Each shines bright, as bright as the sun.
Even in sadness, sadness with tears;
Joy can be found, found without fear.

Droplets of dew, dew on the grass;
Each, a tiny lens, a lens made of glass.
Our eyes cannot see, see every blessing,
We see only us, and besides us, nothing.

Sunlight hits each, each a small star,
Illumined to brilliance, brightness seen afar.
Christ gives us light, and sight to see;
He is the source, the source of eternity.

So let the sun show, show its bright light;
To the lost world, a world without light.
We are the drops, the drops of sunshine;
To light up the world, the world for Christ.

Precious Memories

Image

Let me first explain this odd picture before I give you the poem. At first glance, it’s a messy dining room… That’s because it is a messy dining room. Although I can’t pin down exactly what it is about this picture, but it reminds me of summer. More than just summer though, this picture reminds me of my favorite, glowing, warm moments with friends and family. The warm sunshine and the messiness give it the feel of mid-summer, when everyone is busy.

It also has a lonely feel to it. An abandoned house, somewhat melancholy. It is a peaceful and endearing picture that stirs up the precious memories of every wonderful moment. Every precious moment: those, I will never forget.

Sunlight shines through the window pane,
On this glorious mid-summer’s day.
I sit in the shade, out of heat’s way,
And ponder the memories we’ve made.

Observe the paths we traveled then,
To places we never had been.
The good, the bad, the tumble-dee-dum;
We enjoyed the pleasure of friends.

Memories fade into the past,
They pass away entirely too fast.
Quiet, lonely, lost are the laughs,
That made every moment a blast.

Longing, I remember the sunny warmth;
Days of hope, days of comfort.
Then I remember that I’m still on earth;
There is still time for sunshine and mirth.

Lonely I stand, taking in this scene;
Sunny, warm, peaceful and serene.
But not alone, not as it may seem;
For friendships are, forever, a living, breathing, precious memory.
